Allan Saint-Maximin likes Tweet suggesting Newcastle takeover close
Allan Saint-Maximin has potentially hinted that a Newcastle United takeover is edging closer to completion in the coming weeks, by liking a Tweet from popular fan site NUFC360 that gave an update on the Saudi-backed bid.
Saint-Maximin, 22, is renowned for his activity on social media – instantly striking up a connection with Newcastle supporters both on and off the pitch thanks to his excellent performances and willingness to communicate with fans.
Rumours emerged on Twitter on Wednesday evening suggesting that a takeover had been given the go-ahead and that the Premier League checks were complete. The rumours even suggested an announcement was “imminent”.
NUFC360 relayed the news to their mass Newcastle following on Twitter, something they have become renowned for on Twitter – especially during recent weeks amid a potential takeover, and Saint-Maximin liked a Tweet from the account.
TBR’s view – Is something happening?
The latest confirmation from reliable sources stated that the takeover was at the Premier League checks stage, and somewhat advanced – with the Saudi-backed takeover having paid a deposit. Mike Ashley is said to be frustrated.
But given the current global health crisis, those checks are taking longer than usual. Indeed, the Premier League chiefs certainly have a lot to deal with at the moment given the suspension of football. Is something happening? It is hard to tell.
Recent suggestions that there could be problems have since passed. Time will tell.
