Kieran Tierney has sent a touching message to departing Arsenal head of physiotherapy Chris Morgan, as he gets set to rejoin Liverpool‘s backroom staff.

The Gunners won the FA Cup after beating Chelsea 2-1 at Wembley on Saturday with star defender Tierney playing a key role in proceedings.

Morgan, meanwhile, had worked at Anfield for 10 years before leaving in 2016 – working his way up from reserve team physiotherapist to become the club’s head of physiotherapy.

After stints at the Football Association, LA Galaxy and Crystal Palace, he joined Arsenal two years ago but is now leaving the Emirates on a high following their latest trophy win after agreeing a return to the Reds.

And Tierney’s message to the medical professional, which was posted to Twitter late last night, is a reminder to Liverpool about exactly the calibre of backroom staff member they are getting.

The Scotland international posted a picture of himself and Morgan holding the FA Cup stating: “This man helped me from the first minute I walked in the door! Cannot thank u enough for everything you’ve done for me… a special man. Grateful for everything. So sad to see u go gonna miss u so much legend. Thank you. Couldn’t have done this without u. Love @ChrisMorgan10 hero.”

Morgan himself also posted a message to Arsenal on Instagram saying it was “a great way to end” with a picture of the entire squad in the Arsenal dressing room following the cup win and that he “loved” his time there while also replying to Tierney on Twitter saying it was a “pleasure” and he was “a dream to work with”.

The Reds will now meet the Gunners in just under four weeks time in the Community Shield.

Liverpool have known for some time that Christopher Rohrbeck, a member of the first-team physio staff, would be returning to Germany at the end of the current campaign.

And Morgan agreed to swap the Emirates for Anfield to bolster Klopp’s backroom staff for next season.

Morgan was popular among the playing staff during his previous time at the club having forged a good relationship with skipper Jordan Henderson and vice-captain James Milner. He was also close to Anfield legend Steven Gerrard.

The departing Rohrbeck joined Liverpool in 2017 after spending 14 years with Mainz, where he first worked with Klopp.

Liverpool had also hoped to recruit club doctor Gary O’Driscoll from Arsenal to replace the departed Andy Massey, only for the medic to ultimately choose to stay at the Emirates.

Academy doctor Jim Moxon has since stepped up to first-team duties and may now continue permanently in the role.
