Arsenal‘s FA Cup victory has given the Gunners the added bonus of causing havoc to the beginning of rivals Tottenham’s 2020/21 season.

A brace from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang saw Arsenal come from a goal down to beat Chelsea 2-1 and clinch the club’s 14th FA Cup in a behind-closed-doors clash at an empty Wembley.

The victory has secured European football for Mikel Arteta’s side next season, despite an eighth-placed finish in the Premier League.

They will go straight into the Europa League group stages alongside Leicester City, who finished fifth in the Premier League after showing disappointing form since football’s restart.

Wolves, who came seventh, will now not play in Europe’s second tier competition next season, but they will qualify for the Champions League if they win this season’s Europa League.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men take on Olympiakos in the second leg of their last-16 clash at Molineux on Thursday, with tie poised at 1-1.

Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham, meanwhile, have been plunged into a hectic start to their 2020/21 campaign.

They will now go into the second qualifying round of the Europa League, which will take place on September 17, the week after the beginning of the next Premier League season.

Mourinho’s Tottenham face a tricky start to the new campaign

Spurs will have to play in three one-off matches – the second and third qualifying round and a playoff round – all one week after each other, if they are to make it into the group stages of the Europa League next season.

That coupled with the beginning of the new Premier League campaign and the possible start of the Carabao Cup could make for an especially tricky beginning to the season for Mourinho’s men.

Spurs, like all Premier League clubs, are set to be guaranteed 30 days of rest after their final competitive game of the season, which came at Crystal Palace last Sunday.
