Coventry City ‘make six-figure bid’ for Arsenal midfielder

Coventry City have made a six-figure bid for Arsenal prospect Ben Sheaf, according to reports.

Sky Blues boss Mark Robins is said to be a big fan of the midfielder, who spent the past season on loan at City’s then-League One rivals Doncaster Rovers.

Sheaf, 22, has come through the ranks with the Gunners after joining from West Ham in his mid-teens, and has made two first-team appearances for Arsenal.

However, they are now willing to sell, and it seems City are ready to snap him up, with the Sun on Sunday reporting that a six-figure offer has been submitted.

Sheaf made 38 appearances in all competitions for Doncaster last season, scoring twice and assisting three goals from a defensive midfield position.

It seems not limited to a deep-lying midfield role though. He played most of his games for Arsenal’s Under-23s as a centre-back, while he even had a handful of outings at right-back and on the right side of midfield.

If City were to bring in Sheaf, he would be their seventh signing of the summer, following the recruitment of Gustavo Hamer, Julien Da Costa, Marcel Hilssner, Callum O’Hare, Jay McGrath and Ryan Giles.
