Everton reportedly interested in Newcastle midfielder now out of contract
Longstaff’s future on Tyneside has been a talking point for some time. The Chronicle reports that the Magpies still want to hold onto the 20-year-old, who scored two Premier League goals this past season.
The Chronicle has also noted that the Hammers want the academy graduate. But they have claimed that Everton are also monitoring the youngster.
The report notes that any club who signs Longstaff – should he leave Newcastle – will have to pay the Magpies compensation.
TBR View: Longstaff an unproven talent, but could be shrewd addition for Everton
It must be noted that Longstaff goes into this summer having only made nine appearances at the highest level. So a move could still be considered something of a gamble.
Of course, his contract situation reduces the risk significantly. He is not going to cost an eye-watering amount should he move in the coming weeks.
And given that he has impressed for Steve Bruce’s side this season, it is not difficult to see why the likes of Everton and West Ham are interested.
