Totteham Hotspur are on the look out for another manager, with former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho the favourite to take over the role.

Spurs announced the dismissal of Mauricio Pochettino in an official statement on their website on Tuesday evening.

“The Club can today announce that Mauricio Pochettino and his coaching staff Jesus Perez, Miguel D’Agostino and Antoni Jimenez have been relieved of their duties,” the statement read.

Spurs have had a poor start to the season, with the 1-1 draw with Sheffield United before the international break leaving them in 14h place in the table, 11 points adrift of fourth placed Manchester City.

Following the news of the sacking reports around Jose Mourinho began to circulate, and football.london understand that the former Blues manager has already been contacted by Spurs regarding the vacancy.

 

Mourinho has spent two spells in charge at Stamford Bridge, between the years of 2004-2007 and 2013-2015.

He won three Premier Leagues, three League Cups and one FA Cup as Chelsea manager.

Mourinho has been out of work since losing his job at Manchester United in December 2018.

Chelsea fans still hold the manager in high regard for what he achieved at Stamford Bridge, despite the Portuguese leaving under somewhat of a cloud in 2015.

Following the news of Spurs’ interest in the former manager, Blues’ fans took to social media to give their thoughts.

Should Mourinho be appointed as Spurs manager, the next meeting with Chelsea would come early in his career at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with the Blues’ making the short journey on December 22nd.
