Leeds join Newcastle, Tottenham and West Ham in Brooks race
Bleacher Report have claimed that Leeds United are the latest Premier League side to take a look at Bournemouth sensation David Brooks, amid reports that Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are keen.
Brooks, 23, has already made a name for himself in the Premier League despite only playing nine times during the 2019-20 campaign. The prior season, Brooks shone after his £11.5million (Sky) move from Sheffield United.
The Wales international had a hand in 12 goals during 30 Premier League appearances in his first season at Bournemouth – scoring seven and creating five. Injury limited him to just nine games this time around.
Sky Sports claim West Ham and Newcastle are keen, while the Evening Standard say Brooks is one of five players on Tottenham’s shortlist. Now Leeds are supposedly taking a look, following Bournemouth’s relegation.
TBR’s view – Brooks would be a simply sensational signing
Even with Leeds signing Helder Costa permanently and Jack Harrison reportedly set to complete another loan spell at the club, Brooks would still be a very welcome addition. Forget where Leeds need cover, Brooks is a game changer.
Goals, assists, pace, dribbling, skill and plenty more are areas that Brooks specialises in. Signing Brooks for Leeds would give Marcelo Bielsa the perfect player to supply the creation and eye for goal to survive relegation.
It remains to be seen how much Brooks will cost Leeds or any other clubs – though he was rated at £50million (Express) in February 2019.
