Leicester City eye Belgian star attracting interest from ‘across the continent’ – report

Leicester City have been linked with a move for Belgium international Timothy Castagne.

According to Belgian outlet Sport/Foot, the Foxes have been keeping an eye on the Atalanta star as they put in place contingency plans.

City will have no intentions of losing right-back Ricardo Pereira this summer, but with the Portuguese being one of the most consistent players in his position across the continent, interest from a number of clubs is likely.

With that in mind, reports claim City are tracking Castagne as a contingency plan should Ricardo, who is under contract until 2023, somehow depart.

Castagne has played a vital part in Atalanta’s success in recent seasons.

The Serie A club reached the Champions league ahead of this season and they have already reached the quarter-final of the competition.

Castagne joined Atalanta in 2017 when he joined from Genk, and he has gone on to make 58 league appearances so far, scoring five times.

He has made 19 appearances in all competitions this season and is under contract until 2021.

It’s reported Castagne has attracted interest from ‘across the continent’, meaning City wouldn’t be alone if they were to try to add another Belgian to their squad following the signings of Youri Tielemans and Dennis Praet last summer.
