Man United agree fee for £117m rated man, Burnley linked with prolific striker – reports
It’s set to be a busy summer for Premier League clubs as they prepare for the 2020/21 season, which is set to get underway in just over a month’s time.
With the transfer window now open, all eyes are on who will be making moves over the next couple of months.
The break in last season due to the coronavirus pandemic has had a big effect on finances within football, but that hasn’t stopped the usual plethora of transfer rumours.
Here are the latest rumours and gossip coming from the Premier League.
United ‘agree initial fee’ for Sancho transfer
The Independent claim United have agreed an initial fee of £60m for Jadon Sancho, with a number of add-ons still to be determined which would see the deal rise closer to Borussia Dortmund’s asking price.
The report says no formal talks have taken place, with this development coming through intermediaries. The £60m fee would rise to £100m in add-ons, and Dortmund are keen to agree a complete deal quickly to avoid a lengthy transfer saga, it is claimed.
Clarets among front-runners to sign Pukki
Burnley have been named second-favourites to sign Norwich City’s clinical striker Teemu Pukki, but Turkish giants Besiktas (5/2) look to be leading the race for the ex-Celtic man.
There has been no talk of Burnley needing a forward, with competition for places including Chris Wood, Jay Rodriguez, Ashley Barnes and Matej Vydra.
Barca target Garcia
Barcelona have made Manchester City defender Eric Garcia their top priority this summer, according to reports.
The 19-year-old was formerly part of Barca’s La Masia academy before moving to the Etihad Stadium in 2017.
With his current contract at Eastlands set to expire in 2022, the Catalans are looking to bring Garcia back to the Camp Nou as a long-term successor to Gerard Pique, Goal reports.
But City are still looking to tie the Spanish defender down to a new long-term contract, having seen him establish himself in Pep Guardiola’s side in the last couple of months.
Everton bid for Real defender
Everton have reportedly taken the lead in the race to sign Real Madrid defender Sergio Reguilon after bidding £18m.
The 23-year-old was voted the best left-back in La Liga after playing a pivotal role while on loan with Sevilla.
Carlo Ancelotti is thought to be keen to fill the vacancy left after Leighton Baines’ decision to retire and, according to Sky Sports, his side have now moved ahead of at least three other Premier League clubs in the race to sign Reguilon.
And they could be helped by Real’s need to raise around £180m in funds, as well as the options already in place at left-back with Marcelo and Ferland Mendy.
