Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may have handed Manchester United a big boost if they opt to move to Raul Jimenez this summer as his brace against Chelsea in the FA Cup final yesterday stopped Wolves securing Europa League football.

Mikel Arteta won his first trophy since becoming Arsenal boss as Aubameyang scored twice in a 2-1 win at Wembley.

That means the Gunners, who finished eighth in the Premier League table, have qualified for next season’s Europa League.

If Chelsea had come out on top yesterday then the extra European spot would have been awarded to the team which finished seventh in the table – which was Wolves.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side harboured outside hopes of finishing in the Champions League spots prior to the coronavirus break.

The Midlanders gave it a good shot but ultimately fell short and were beaten to sixth place by Tottenham on goal difference.

Many of Wolves’ top players have been linked with moves away from the Molineux this summer.

A lack of European football may be the deciding factor in some of their stars wanting to move onto pastures new.

Jimenez has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent days with reports in Portugal suggesting a transfer was close to being completed.

Red Devils insiders dismissed those claims but if they were to make a move it would now be much easier thanks to Arsenal‘s FA Cup success.

“If you think you’ve got a divine right to be playing every game and are doing so well that we’re not going to look for players to replace you, you’re in the wrong place.

“I’ve been here myself for so many years as a striker and Teddy Sheringham comes in, Dwight Yorke comes in, Ruud van Nistelrooy comes in, Wayne Rooney comes in.

“We’ve always got to look at improving, and if they don’t improve, we might have to look somewhere else to get better because we have to be better. We’re too far away from where we need to be and want to be.”
