David Moyes reportedly wants to bring Jesse Lingard and Phil Jones to West Ham, should the Hammers preserve their Premier League status. The Irons have made huge strides towards Premier League safety in the past week, adding four points to their tally following impressive results against Chelsea and Newcastle.

The 3-2 win over the Blues last week has given the London Stadium hierarchy added belief that David Moyes is the right man to steady the ship.

There is some suggestion that he will be handed the chance to continue with the club into next season, should he keep them afloat.

During his first stint in charge during the 2017/18 season Moyes was replaced by Manuel Pellegrini at the end of the campaign, who was sacked last December.

According to The Independent, Moyes would be keen on signing both Lingard and Jones as part of his West Ham project.

Solskjaer criticised the England international and Andreas Pereira in February when asked why they were not part of the squad against Watford.

“There’s more and more competition for places. Your standard has to improve,” he said.

Lingard was handed a rare start in the FA Cup quarter-final against Norwich ten days ago, but was hooked after an hour after a dismal showing.

Before the restart, Lingard was optimistic that the break would give him the chance to wipe the slate clean and fight for his place once again.

“You know I wanted to go back in fitter, sharper than last season to play every game. I’ve kind of forgot about last season, we move forward and even though the season’s not finished, I feel like it’s another little fresh start,” he told Adidas Home Team’s The Huddle.

“Finishing a season, it feels like a mini-season for me, so to go back in, like I say, flying from the get-go, in which I feel good and then, obviously, for next season to just carry on.

“I have the right attitude, I have the right desire, I have the right hunger to win games to play for United to obviously win trophies which is one of the most important things.”

Jones has made just two appearances in the Premier League this season and looks destined to leave Old Trafford.

The defender signed a new four-year contract lsat year and remains nothing more than a squad player for Solskjaer.
