Manchester United legend Gary Neville has brought an end to his public exile and has broken his silence on Liverpool‘s Premier League title.

Manchester City’s defeat by Chelsea last week sent the title to Merseyside for the first time in three decades and Neville swiftly disappeared from the public eye.

However, he made his return for Sky Sports’ coverage of United’s Premier League trip to face Brighton at the the Amex Stadium.

It didn’t take long for the conversation to switch to Liverpool, as Neville was immediately asked for his reaction to the achievement.

“It’s an incredible achievement to win any title. It’s been coming for a couple of years, they’ve been knocking on the door. Last season, with what Manchester City did, they had to be at their absolute best,” he said.

“Jurgen Klopp, the job he’s done has been absolutely fantastic. I thought when he came to Liverpool four years ago, it would be almost impossible for him to deliver a title with the spending power of City, United, Chelsea. I thought it would be so difficult.

“He’s turned £30m players into £130m players. He’s turned £75m players into £150m players. Those other clubs have invested £130m and made them into £30m. The recruitment has been brilliant, the coaching has been brilliant and it all comes from the manager, and the players fall into line.

“Great achievement. Something in particular that I don’t like, it’s a day I never wanted to see again. I’ve seen enough of it in my childhood years and I’ve had to witness it again in the last few weeks, but you obviously have to congratulate the title winners. It’s been a brilliant performance.”
