Nemanja Matic believes the pressure and spotlight at Manchester United is greater than that at former club Chelsea.

The Serbian spent three years in his second stint at Stamford Bridge and was instrumental during two title-winning seasons in west London.

However, Jose Mourinho was desperate to sign the midfielder and Chelsea agreed a shock £40m deal with United in 2017 for the former Benfica ace.

Mourinho has since departed and after a difficult start, he’s managed to convince Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that he has a long-term future at Old Trafford.

But the Serbian had to overcome a difficult period to do so and he told Solskjaer that the biggest difference between life at the club and former team Chelsea is the increased level of scrutiny.

‘Anything we do is magnified or scrutinised,’ Solskjaer told United We Stand.

‘Nemanja [Matić] told me that when he lived in London, he could walk around and never be spotted. As soon as he became a Manchester United player that all changed.’

United resumed first team training on Tuesday and the club didn’t record a single positive test for Covid-19 after the first phase of mass training.

Strict restrictions were in place for players at the training ground, with squad members told to arrive in groups of five and in their own training kit.

Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford were both able to train after lengthy spells on the sidelines.
