Newcastle vs AFC Bournemouth score predictions – Can the Magpies get back-to-back wins?

Newcastle United welcome AFC Bournemouth to St James’ Park this weekend hoping to go into the international break with two wins on the bounce.

Having seen off West Ham last weekend, head coach Steve Bruce will be looking to secure Newcastle’s first back-to-back win since April 2018.

United come into the game unbeaten in their last four home games but with three draws in that time, Bruce will be hoping it’s three points come the end of the game.

Bruce is expected to have the majority of his squad to pick from with the possibility that Florian Lejeune may be fit enough to make it on the bench.

Here are the score predictions:

Mark Lawrenson – BBC Sport

Bournemouth got a really good result against Manchester United last weekend, and I have them down as quite a streaky team – in that they tend to have bursts of good form.

The Cherries have also kept three clean sheets in a row now, which is important for them because I would always back them to score.

The same cannot be said for Newcastle. The Magpies played well when they beat West Ham, but I don’t see them building on that result.

Prediction: Newcastle 0-2 AFC Bournemouth

The way Newcastle are going at the minute, you are thinking that these are winnable games for them.

I know Steve Bruce likes to play attacking football, but he cannot do so with this team.

Miguel Almiron is like a little whippet who cannot slow down to finish.

The fans love him as he is energetic, which I do like about him, but the other phases of his play need to come sharpish. Allan Saint-Maximin is skilful and unpredictable, while Jonjo Shelvey is back in the team. If Newcastle win, they are heading towards the top end of the table.

Bournemouth can go anywhere and play well, as shown with the Manchester United game. They are a very dangerous side and will cause problems once again.

Prediction: Newcastle 2-2 AFC Bournemouth

Michael Owen – BetVictor

A fabulous result for Newcastle at the London Stadium at the weekend, and I believe the Magpies will follow up that success against a Bournemouth side who have only scored once in their last four games although that was enough to beat Man United at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

It has taken a while for Steve Bruce to win over the Toon Army, but they are certainly enjoying their trips to the capital this term. United found the back of the net three times in the opening 45 minutes at West Ham on Saturday but one might be enough against the Cherries back at St James’ Park.

Prediction: Newcastle to win

Lee Ryder – ChronicleLive

United boss Steve Bruce has hit back at a few critics in the last week or so but now must back up the win against the Hammers in front of home support.

For all Bournemouth have had a decent campaign so far – currently sitting seventh – they do have a wobble in them.

On the road they are far from invincible and I expected United to just about edge it at St James’ Park.

Again, patience may need to be the watchword again.

Prediction: Newcastle to win

Andrew Musgrove – ChronicleLive

Newcastle welcome a AFC Bournemouth side flying high in the league, and who have suddenly stopped shipping goals at the back.

Given United’s issues in-front of goal – the West Ham performance aside – The Cherries come into this game looking to secure a fourth clean sheet.

But the Magpies will be confident having seen of West Ham and in good fashion, and the hope will be that one of the three front men can break their duck.

Steve Bruce will be wanting to send the fans into the international break happy but knows that Eddie Howe’s men can cause real problems going forward.

It’s going to be a close game.

Prediction: Newcastle 1-1 AFC Bournemouth
