Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirms Man United are on the lookout for a striker

Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have both scored 19 goals in all competitions for Man United this season.

The last time Man United had two forwards break 20 goals in the same season was when Didier Berbatov (22 goals) and Javier Hernandez (20 goals) hit that landmark in 2010-11.

Nevertheless, according to Man United manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer, he’s looking to add another striker to the squad. Solskjaer said:

You need competition for places at Manchester United.

If you think you’ve got a divine right to be playing every game and are doing so well that we’re not going to look for players to replace you, you’re in the wrong place.

We’ve always got to look at improving, and if they don’t improve, we might have to look somewhere else to get better because we have to be better.

We’re too far away from where we need to be and want to be.

Man United: Transfer targets

While Man United have been linked with a raft of signings lately including Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish and Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.

However, following Solskjaer’s latest comments, the Times claim that “Solskjaer has opened up the possibility of looking for a more orthodox centre forward as well.”

Team news before Brighton vs Manchester United

Brighton manager Graham Potter is likely to have to rotate his backline which started against Leicester.

Centre-half Adam Webster sustained a hamstring injury in that match. Shane Duffy came on as a sub, and he’s likely to start on Tuesday night.

Brighton right-back Tariq Lamptey needed stitches for a facial wound against Leicester, but Lamptey is also set to start against Man United.

Meanwhile, with no major injury problems, the big question for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems to be whether to start Bruno Fernandes.

The Portuguese midfielder has played 300 minutes since the restart, including 120 minutes against Norwich in the FA Cup.
