Olivier Giroud sitting on Lazio offer due to Tottenham interest
Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is not in a hurry decide his future, now that he’s stuck at the club until the end of the season.
While Lazio have apparently offered a pre-contract already, stepping into the void left by Serie A title rivals Inter Milan, they are not alone in potentially pursuing the 33-year-old backup striker. According to a report from the Telegraph, Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur may still be hanging around and are ready to follow up their January interest as well.
Giroud’s contract will end in June, and there is no indication that Chelsea will be extending the deal — not that he’d have any reason to stay at the moment — so he is now free to discuss terms with other clubs for a free transfer in the summer.
But his main focus for right now will still mostly likely be to try to convince Lampard to give him a chance on the pitch (which Lampard did promise), and ensure that he keeps his place in the France squad for Euro 2020 — a task that’s looking tougher and tougher the more he does not play. Surely, he’s due a few minutes, if for nothing else than his professionalism this season and throughout his time at Stamford Bridge.
