Reported Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur target Serhou Guirassy was subject to a “very lucrative” offer from England in January and remains on the radar of several English sides including West Ham, Amiens president Bernard Joannin has confirmed to Get French Football News.

According to the Daily Mail, the Gunners are keen on the 24-year-old, who has been given the green light to leave the club following relegation from Ligue 1, while Le 10 Sport claimed Spurs, Chelsea and the Hammers are also interested.

Guirassy joined Amiens on loan from Koln in January 2019 and was signed permanently ahead of the 2019-20 season.

Over the past 18 months, the former France youth international claimed 12 goals and two assists from 37 appearances in all competitions.

With the French football season decided on “points per game” following the suspension due to the global health crisis, Amiens have dropped out of the top flight.

Although the Unicorns are taking legal action, Joannin has admitted that he won’t stand in Guirassy’s way after he stayed put in January to aid their relegation battle.

“In January we agreed terms with an English club and it is Serhou Guirassy – who is an exceptional character, with great values, he’s fantastic – he said to me “listen president, I want to stay at Amiens as I want to help my friends to survive this year,” he told Get French Football News.

“So he stayed, he turned down a very lucrative contract with an English club. There are several English clubs that want him, like West Ham who are very clear on that. There are other clubs, including offers from other French clubs. And if people make an offer at the right price I will allow Serhou to leave.”

Guirassy had netted nine times in 24 Ligue 1 games for Amiens this season before their campaign was curtailed by the global health crisis and then brought to a complete close, seeing them relegated from the top flight.

Joannin couldn’t be more pleased with his player’s attitude in their battle against the drop and is speaking very highly of him, food for thought with regards to what kind of character Arsenal, Spurs or indeed other reported suitors would be getting for the £15million-rated forward.
