Report: Everton plan £15m Josh King bid as Bournemouth striker looks to leave
Everton are looking to sign one of the men who scored against the Toffees on the final day of last season, with The Sun reporting that Carlo Ancelotti is planning to make a £15 million bid for Josh King.
King opened the scoring at Goodison Park last weekend with a penalty. But, while he was ultimately on the winning side, Bournemouth’s win was not enough to save them from relegation.
The Sun reports that the 28-year-old is now looking to leave the Vitality Stadium. And it appears that he is hoping to make a swift return to Merseyside.
The report claims that King wants to join Everton as Ancelotti’s men prepare to make an eight-figure bid for the forward.
It is suggested that the Cherries will be open to selling the former Manchester United trainee this summer with the club looking to bring down the wage bill. However, it remains to be seen if £15 million will be enough to convince his current side into a sale.
TBR View: £15m King move would be shrewd business
King is arguably unlikely to be a player who contends for the Premier League golden boot. However, he has been a consistent performer at the highest level since his switch to the south coast.
He has scored 48 goals in the top flight since joining from Blackburn, reaching double figures on two occasions.
So a £15 million move could arguably be a very shrewd piece of business for the Toffees.
Bournemouth may perhaps want more before they sell King. But if it is enough, it could be a very smart acquisition from Ancelotti ahead of his first full season at the helm.
