Saint-Maximin hits the bar; Yedlin off the line

Welcome to our live blog coverage of Newcastle United vs AFC Bournemouth from St James’ Park.

It’s a big chance for the Magpies to lay down a marker ahead of the final international break of 2019, with the opportunity to move into midtable against Eddie Howe’s Cherries.

The 3-2 win over West Ham has lifted Steve Bruce’s side, and fans are hoping to see the same, exciting attacking intent from Newcastle today.

Fabian Schar and Matt Ritchie could come into contention, with competition for places heating up.

We’ll have all the latest build up, team news, match action, analysis and reaction as it happens throughout the afternoon.

Lascelles going off

Not a moment we wanted to see. Lascelles departed.

Jamaal Lascelles of Newcastle United leaves the pitch after receiving medical attention during the Premier League match between Newcastle United and AFC Bournemouth

30 mins: NEW 0-1 BOU

United apply pressure…

A few crosses into the box, but the best chance falls to Federico Fernandez who fires from distance on the volley.

Easy for the goalkeeper.

26 mins: NEW 0-1 BOU

Steve Bruce is fuming…

Jetro Willems drives forward – beats one flying tackle, and then goes down on the edge of the box.

Nothing is given, and Steve Bruce is furious. Looked a foul to me.

24 mins: NEW 0-1 BOU

Free-kick to come…

Jetro Willems penalised for a foul on Harry Wilson. 30 yards out.

PIC: Wilson gives Bournemouth the lead

22 mins: NEW 0-1 BOU

Joelinton shoots…

Tamely. Joelinton finds himself on the edge of the box with plenty of time but his shot is blocked and without much power it trickles to Aaron Ramsdale.

21 mins: NEW 0-1 BOKEY EVENT

21 mins: Shelvey fires at goal

Joelinton picks the ball up and drives forward setting ASM away. He twists and turns, and tees Shelvey up – he fires over.

20 mins: NEW 0-1 BOUKEY EVENT

20 mins: Lascelles substituted

And that’s it for Jamaal Lascelles who has come off for Paul Dummett.

19 mins: NEW 0-1 BOUKEY EVENT

19 mins: The View from Ciaran Kelly

After what happened at West Ham – it was all too easy for Pablo Balbuena to pull one back at the London Stadium from a corner – that’s the last thing Steve Bruce and his staff will have wanted.

Newcastle went to sleep following Bournemouth’s short corner and were too static as Harry Wilson, known for his long-range efforts, had that bit of time to pick his spot.

The Cherries have settled quickly here and dominated possession and it’s on Newcastle now to respond. Jonjo Shelvey’s picked the ball up a couple of times but is not having quite the same amount of space he did at the London Stadium and has rushed a couple of defence-splitting passes.

18 mins: NEW 0-1 BOU

Jamaal Lascelles is down…

Likely to be from the early incident when he was pushed into Dubravka.

Lascelles is down holding his knee.

17 mins: NEW 0-1 BOU

Dubravka saves…

Very nearly two-nil as Martin Dubravka has to be at his best to save from a deflected cross from Diego Rico.

15 mins: GOAL! BOURNEMOUTHKEY EVENT

15 mins: GOAL! BOURNENMOUTH

NUFC concede from that set-piece – Harry Wilson fires home.

10 mins: NEW 0-0 BOUKEY EVENT

10 mins: JETRO WILLEM CHANCE!

A mistake on the edge of the box Adam Smith allows Jetro Willems in.

He takes a low drive from the left – good save.

Willems hits a shot across goal after latching on to a loose ball but Ramsdale pushes the ball away

LEE RYDER

Nine minutes: NEW 0-0 BOU

Dubravka saves NUFC…

That was very nearly 1-0 as King puts a cross in an there’s a scramble – Dubravka collects.

Six minutes: NEW 0-0 BOUAndrew Musgrove

Fraser fires on goal…

The midfielder is dead central and takes a shot at goal – it fizzes just over.

Empty seats today

There are an awful lot of empty seats here today. The unofficial ongoing boycott from several thousand fans shows no sign of abating, despite the better results and win last week.

This doesn’t look like much more than 41/42,000 (and that’ll be the official gate – not the actual number inside).

Four minutes: NEW 0-0 BOUAndrew Musgrove

King’s foot tramples Dubravka

Both Lascelles and Dubravka are back on their feet.

Two minutes: NEW 0-0 BOUAndrew Musgrove

Jamaal Lascelles stands strong…

Joshua King sprints forward as AFCB hit United on the counter.

Jamaal Lascelles gets across him, and shepherds the ball to Martin Dubravka.

King needlessly pushes him into the GK – Dubravka is down, as is Lascelles.

Concern from the bench.

First minute: NEW 0-0 BOUAndrew Musgrove

United attack…

Allan Saint-Maximin drives forward and sets Jetro Willems down the left – his cross is blocked.

The throw comes in and Joelinton chests down but can’t find space to shoot – it’s cleared.

KICK-OFF: NEW 0-0 BOUAndrew Musgrove

The game is under-way

After an impeccable minute’s silence, the game gets under-way. Newcastle shoot toward the Leazes.

KICK-OFF APPROACHING

Players on the pitch…

The player have lined-up.

There will be a minute’s silence to commemorate Remembrance Day.

Kick-off approaching

The players will be out soon

The stadium is beginning to fill in as the stadium announcer recaps the line ups.

Final instructions for the players.

Eddie Howe’s notes…

“Last week was great, we were really pleased with the performance, but the most important thing now is to hit that mark each week.

“Newcastle have some exceptional individuals, what we know is that we need to produce that Manchester United performance and if we do that we can do well.”

The calm before the storm

Looking forward to seeing front three

Bournemouth don’t concede many – three clean sheets in their last three matches – so the onus is on Newcastle’s front three to create.

Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin were excellent at West Ham while Joelinton played a sterling support role. But that was a classic counter attack game – there may be more of a need for NUFC to attack today, which they haven’t done too well at home so far.

Can they deliver a more convincing offensive effort today?

How the lads will shape up this afternoon

Happy with this team?
