Southampton fans react as club reportedly eye Arsenal teenager
Southampton are reportedly interested in raiding Arsenal for teenage striker Folarin Balogun after the highly-rated England youth international decided to reject a Gunners contract – and Saints fans have reacted on Twitter.
Goal initially claimed that Balogun, 19, had rejected a new contract at Arsenal despite entering the final 12 months of his current deal. It is believed Arsenal have offered Balogun a performance-related deal, which has been rejected.
Now, Arsenal are open to cashing in on the young striker – who has netted 10 goals in 15 Premier League 2 games this season. The Gunners would rather give preference to both Eddie Nketiah and Tyreece John-Jules.
Arsenal rejected a £5million offer from Championship side Brentford in the January window, and the Daily Mail claim the Bees remain interested. But they have been joined by Southampton, AC Milan and other clubs.
Balogun will be desperate to finally make his professional debut, given he has only been given game time at Under-23 level thus far. With talks breaking down, a potential Premier League move to Southampton may tempt Balogun.
Saints fans have reacted to the reported news on Twitter that their club are interested in raiding Arsenal for the teenage striker, and many believe he would be a good addition to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side.
Would be a perfect signing for Saints. He could develop and take over Long’s role in the next year

Just hope this potential purchase will not eat into our budget for defensive reinforcements.
