The four Liverpool FC players who could miss Man City clash through injury
It is back to Premier League action for Man City after successfully making it through to the FA Cup semi-final.
A 2-0 win over Newcastle United at St James’ Park saw Pep Guardiola’s men bounce back after the disappointment of losing to Chelsea last week – a result which handed Liverpool their first Premier League title.
And it just so happens that the Reds are the next visitors to the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League when they arrive to take on City on Thursday evening.
With the league wrapped up, Jurgen Klopp could decide to make changes for the game, although some records are still on for Liverpool which the team will be determined to reach.
However, the Reds manager could be without up to four players going into the game.
One who will definitely be out is defender Joel Matip.
The center-back injured his foot during the goalless draw with Everton at Goodison Park, and has said that he expects to miss the final seven fixtures of the season.
“This season I will be not back on the pitch but for next season, I hope I’m going to be quite early a direct help for the team.” he told Liverpool’s official website.
Another player who could miss the clash is James Milner. The midfielder appeared to injure his hamstring in the draw against Everton, leaving the field of play just before halftime and was left out of the squad for the win over Crystal Palace.
Winger Xherdan Shaqiri has been out of action since January, but is on the verge of coming back, although the game against City may come a bit too early for him.
Nathaniel Clyne has been another long-term absentee having not made an appearance this season after damaging his anterior cruciate ligament.
