West Ham target Seko Fofana plots summer move – HITC
The talented midfielder has been compared with Yaya Toure (Mondo Udinese).
This season, his form alerted clubs both in Italy and abroad with West Ham among those taking an interest during the January transfer window.
According to GianlucadiMarzio, the Hammers saw him as an ideal midfield recruit while Udinese valued the Ivory Coast international at around the £17 million mark.
A move to West Ham in January ultimately never materialised.
But the Hammers may get another chance now, with Fofana telling reporters how he plans to leave Udinese this summer after completing his cycle at the club.
“My cycle in Udine ends here, after four beautiful years. I have to think about me. The time has come to choose another destination,” the midfielder explained.
Fofana has been in England before. The 25-year-old was on the books of Manchester City between 2014-16, however he failed to make an appearance for the Citizens.
This season he has grown into a top player, posting three goals and seven assists in 24 Serie A starts while averaging 1.6 key passes and 2.3 dribbles per game (Whoscored).
West Ham strengthened their midfield with Tomas Soucek arriving in January.
But with Mark Noble in his thirties and Declan Rice’s long-term future uncertain, manager David Moyes may seek another midfield arrival this summer and Fofana could be a real hit.
