Manchester City’s women’s team were back at the City Football Academy (CFA) this week, as they underwent COVID-19 testing ahead of a return to training.

It was a brief return for Gareth Taylor’s side, who, in accordance with protocol, visited only to provide the necessary samples to testing staff.

Women’s football in England officially ended on Monday 25 May, when City still had six games of our league campaign left to play.

A week later is was announced that the season would be settled on points-per-game, resulting in a second-place finish and Champions League qualification.

There have been several high-profile changes since competition stopped, with Taylor unveiled as head coach on a three-year deal and Jill Scott agreeing a two-year contract extension, which sees her take on a player-coach role.

Once City have received the test results, the team’s training programme will resume at the CFA in the near future.
